ANZAC FACTS
1. ANZAC stands for Australia, New Zealand Army Corps.
2. The battle took place on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey on the 25th April 1915.
3. The battle lasted 8 months, more than 11,000 died and 23,500 were wounded.
4. ANZAC Day was not a public holiday in Australia or New Zealand until 1921.
5. Poppies are worn on the day as a reminder of the soldiers who fought and died.
